Washington Post blogging reporter Chris Cillizza's got info on the latest staff announcements affecting Republican Party politics at the national level. Cillizza reports that the Republican National Committee is "staffing up in anticipation of the handover of power from outgoing RNC Chair Ken Mehlman to its new leader, Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida."
Among the recent hires: Lisa Camooso Miller will serve as communications director during the 2008 cycle. She comes to the RNC from working as spokeswoman for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert. Her boss in Hastert's office, Ron Bonjean, also has moved on - to be executive director of the Senate Republican Conference.
Cillizza says the RNC "has experienced a staff exodus of late as a number of senior operatives have left to join presidential campaigns." No surprise, that.
Among the RNC staffers leaving to join campaigns: former RNC political director Mike DuHaime, who is now heading up the exploratory committee of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, and former RNC research director Matt Rhoades, now serving as communications director for former Gov. Mitt Romney.
Cillizza's got the latest staff moves and changes on the Democratic side as well. If you're interested, click here.
