Michael Silence, a reporter and blogger for the Knoxville News Sentinel, has the latest from the Fred Thompson rumor mill. Several items and links on his list - here's one that really intrigued me:
Amid rumors that Senator Fred Thompson might make a run for the Presidency, he was on Mark Levin's radio show this evening discussing the Libby matter and Levin ended the call by asking him about the rumors. He played it rather coy, simply saying, I'll have more to say about that a little bit down the road.
You can click here to listen to Thompson on that radio show.
Will Thompson run? I'd still bet against it, but I think the odds are rising, especially as McCain's campaign looks increasingly troubled. And if Thompson enters the race, all previous predictions and polls are to be considered non-operative and irrelevant. When Fred Thompson gets rolling on the campaign trail, even polished, well-funded, seasoned pols can get steamrolled. Just ask Jim Cooper.
