
Former U.S. Sen. Bill Frist is encouraging Fred Thompson to run for president. On his blog, the former Senate Majority Leader from Tennessee encourages his fellow former Tennessee senator to run, saying Thompson "understands the legislative process and has a strong bipartisan appeal, though he is a real conservative."
Frist, who says he hasn't talked to Thompson about running for president, praises Thompson as someone who "has the experience of government service with a real appreciation for all three branches of government." He calls Thompson "a commonsense leader."
Frist was considering running for president himself but later decided not to. He is remaining active in national politics via VolPac and the VolPac blog.
