Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has made attacking political consultants something of a stump speech stock item, and his appearance at the Independent Women’s Forum at the National Press Club was no different. The Hill reports:
The former Speaker lambasted the use of campaign consultants and focus group-tested campaign models, and said afterward he would not run such a campaign.
He stopped short of saying he would not employ consultants in the event that he runs, adding that they serve a purpose in modern presidential campaigns. "It’s a question of who drives the system and who defines the system," he said.
He's said similar things before.
