National Public Radio compares the words of former Sen. Fred Thompson, (R-TN) with those of the actor Fred Dalton Thompson, star of TV's Law and Order. I'm going to guess there are a lot of similarities.

Thompson has mostly played characters not too unlike himself - indeed, he got his start in Hollywood by playing himself in the movie Marie, in which - just as in real life - he was an attorney representing a whistleblower who helped bring down a corrupt Tennessee governor.

One thing's for sure - if history looks back on the President Fred Thompson years, it will have plenty of audio, video and film to fill the documentaries.
