In an interview Monday with Diane Sawyer on "Good Morning America," former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said there was a "great possibility" that he would run for president.
"You said you'll make a decision at the end of the September,{is it} more likely, less likely this morning? Sawyer asked Gingrich. "I think right now, it is a great possibility," Gingrich said. "A great possibility you'll run? Sawyer asked. But Gingrich declined to elaborate.
You can read the transcript of Newt's appearance on GMA here. I doubt Gingrich will, ultimately, decide to run. By September the GOP field is going to look much different than it does now - there will be fewer candidates still in the race, and Fred Thompson will, in all likelihood, have joined the race and become one of the lead dogs in the pack, with conservatives coalescing around him as the field thins.
That's not a scenario conducive to Gingrich entering the race.

I like Newt and all, but let's face it, the man has extremely high negatives. Even if he were able to win the Republican primary, the national election would be a disaster of monumental proportions.
