Breitbart.tv interviews Fred Thompson, who comments on the first Republican presidential debate, whether or not he has "the fire in the belly" to run for president, and much, much more. When you watch the interview you see a man confident in who he is and what he stands for, with a good sense of humor about himself and the political process, but also a seriousness of purpose.
Thompson discusses whether or not its too late for him to run.
"It's too late for me to play by the old rules even if I wanted to and I don't want to," he said, later adding, "If you can't get your message out and if you can't introduce yourself to people and people can't kind of figure out what kind of guy you are and what kind of president you'd be in the length of time we've got between here and the primary season, it's not going to happen so you might ought to find another line of work. I think there's plenty of time to do that."
Does Fred have the "fire in the belly" to make the race? Fred: "I've never casually run for anything."
"If I didn't think I could win in November, I wouldn't think about it."
Thompson also addresses the impact of the Internet and how it allows him "to go around the Beltway crowd" and talk directly to the people. The Fred Thompson unCampaign rolls on.
The interview lasts 12 minutes.
Also, here is an excerpt of Fred Thompson's prepared remarks for the Orange County, California, Lincoln Club Annual Dinner. Thompson delivered the speech Friday night.
