The Washington Times reports that bloggers are having an impact on the debate over immigration reform.
The top Senate Republican negotiator on immigration said he has heard the complaints of conservative talk-radio show hosts and bloggers, and will try to change the immigration bill to accommodate them. Sen. Jon Kyl, the Arizona Republican who wrote the bill with Democrats and the Bush administration, said he is making moves to stiffen immigration law enforcement when the Senate bill returns to the floor next week. "All of the concerns from our constituents and some in the media have been listened to, and incorporated," said Mr. Kyl, who is drafting new provisions in an amendment he hopes to offer.
Never doubt the power of bloggers to impact politics. Especially big-time bloggers with syndicated radio shows, like Hugh Hewitt...
Mr. Kyl's comments yesterday underscore how important talk radio and bloggers have been in the debate — even though some other Republicans, such as Sen. Trent Lott of Mississippi, have complained about the influence of talk radio.
In talking with reporters, Mr. Kyl singled out radio host Hugh Hewitt and called him "a very smart lawyer ... who I really respect."
"He had several issues and I haven't had the ability to run all of them to ground, but we're trying to include some of his specific suggestions," Mr. Kyl said.
Score: Hewitt 1, Amnesty 0.

Comprehensive immigration "reform" flawed even the second version. I wonder why the idea of strict border enforcement never occured to the backers of this farce before? First version of this garbage bill made no mention of enforcement first. I am suspicious of this second revised version because the motives of enforcement now pumped into this second bill is suspect.
Further while we have a fifth column occuping this country like radical Chicano groups like La Voz de Aztlan, MEChA and La Raza (the race); all hate racists groups; I am ever more apprehensive. Add the Mexican hate group of illegals which is Indian so-named Mexica Movement. See their hate-filled website page and you will see 21st Century fascism on the move. Use Yahoo Search and tpe in Mexica Movement. These Nazi's types are based in East Los Angeles, California.
We need to get these scourge outfits off the face of our United States soil and send these bastards packing back to the rural reaches of Mexico; principally the Yucatan.
The comprehensive immigration "reform" act is nothing but another AMNESTY that will encourage more illegal immigration.
For Sen. John McCain to thrown in with the likes of ultra liberal Teddy Kennedy is too much for one to stomach. You lay down with dogs; you come up scratchin' fleas.
McCain will NEVER get my vote for this one reason. He shot himself politically and fatally with is best buddy routine with Sen. Teddy Kennedy.
McCain.....dead man walking!
Stick a fork in him; he's done!
