This is the Mike Huckabee installment of a series of 11 posts I am presenting today here at ElephantBiz.com surveying the social-media aspects of the websites of the 11 Republicans currently running for President. (See: "Grading the Candidates' Blogs.")
Huckabee's campaign website, ExploreHuckabee.com, shows just how well a campaign can engage the grassroots media despite not having oodles of campaign cash. Offering plenty of TV and audio clips, the campaign home page also invites bloggers to "join Bloggers for Huckabee." At last count, the Bloggers for Huckabee blogroll on the site listed some 62 blogs.
Huckabee's campaign blog not only offers the latest Huckabee news - including video clips - and downloadable banners for bloggers to add to their sites, it also offers another very interesting way for bloggers to interact with the Huckabee campaign: a signup form for bloggers to interview Huckabee.
What's missing from Huckabee's campaign website is links to official Huckabee pages on MySpace, YouTube and Facebook. Also, Huckabee should make it easy for bloggers to add a "Help Huckabee" button or donations box to their web sites. It wouldn't cost much and might help him bring in some desperately needed cash.
In terms of effective and broad use of social media, I'd give the overall effort a grade of A-.
Update: For reviews of social media efforts of the other 10 Republican presidential candidates, see the list below:
