Mark Tapscott at the Washington Examiner says that what happened to the illegal immigrant amnesty, er, "immigration reform" bill this week demonstrates that growing power of the conservative new media.
This was a classic illustration of the power of the Right side of the Blogosphere to focus the wisdom of the American people on a pernicious proposal that mainly benefited Washington's career politicians and their favored special special interests.

I still think the Right has a lot of catching up to do on the use of Web 2.0 tools in the public policy debate, but let's not underestimate how far we have come in a few short years. I am even more convinced now than I was when I wrote the first post on Tapscott's Copy Desk in 2004 that the Internet can change the course of public policy in America. Conservatives simply must understand and perfect this amazing tool.
Amen, Brother Tapscott, preach it.
And a word to the Right side of the blogosphere: Don't get complacent. The same folks that wanted to pass the amnesty, er, "immigration reform" bill are still in power, and they'll be back to try again.
