Tommy Thompson Web Review

This is the Tommy Thompson installment of a series of 11 posts I am presenting today here at ElephantBiz.com surveying the social-media aspects of the websites of the 11 Republicans currently running for President. (See: "Grading the Candidates' Blogs.")

Tommy Thompson's campaign website, Tommy2008.com, serves up prominent home-page links to the official Tommy Thompson pages on MySpace and Flickr, but no YouTube, the latter a glaring ommission. There's also no blog, thus, no blogroll and no outreach of any kind to the conservative blogosphere, except for a page offering code to embed various Thompson campaign logos on one's website. Even the "In the News" page is just a list of links.

In the realm of social media, Tommy2008.com is a dud. Grade: D.

Update: For reviews of social media efforts of the other 10 Republican presidential candidates, see the list below:

The Thompson campaign does indeed have a weblog. It's on MySpace and isn't directly linked from the campaign page. It hasn't been updated in over a month which is a bigger minus.

The biggest negative is the lack of a YouTube presence. Tommy has little money so he should be leveraging online technology in building a grassroots effort in Iowa.
