The New York Times looks into the lobbying activities of the sons of Fred Thompson and finds ... well, not very much interesting. Son Tony lobbied mainly in Nashville, not Washington D.C. and was given his first lobbying job by the man Thompson replaced in the U.S. Senate. No, not Al Gore - Harlan Mathews, a Democrat appointed to the Senate after Gore resigned in 1992 to become vice president. Mathews didn't run in in the 1994 election to complete Gore's term.
So, what the NYT puts the spotlight on is that a Democrat hired one of Thompson's sons to lobby primarily in the state capitol - not Washington D.C. - at a time when Democrats controlled the state legislature.
Ooh. Whee. Yawn.
