
In what Jonathan Martin is dubbing the Brownback primary, Rudy Giuliani is meeting with former preidential candidate Sam Brownback today:
"Mayor Giuliani asked to meet with Senator Brownback, and Senator Brownback is happy to sit down with him," said Brian Hart, the senator's spokesman. "Senator Brownback is talking to a few people but doesn't intend to endorse anyone right away."
Brownback, a true Republican Revolutionary, clearly wants to be President. And there's two ways for him to do it: Governor Brownback of Kansas or Vice-President Brownback.
You can bet that both will be feeling the other out to see if there is a place for Brownback in a Giuliani administration. While Giuliani's support of abortion makes it nearly impossible for Brownback to endorse him, if Brownback were to become the VP nominee and is made the point man on judicial appointments, then maybe...
But on the other hand, if Giuliani loses the primary and Brownback endorses him, then Brownback would have to answer to social conservatives and would have seriously tarnished his reputation. Especially since any such agreement is likely to remain unspoken...
