Per the Palmetto Scoop, Dr. Don Wilton, former president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and an influential Christian leader, has retracted his endorsement of Mitt Romney.
Romney had been touting this endorsement as part of his strategy to appeal to religious conservatives. Ever since his entrance into the race, there has been a question mark as to whether Christian conservatives would support a Mormon for president.
This retraction is pretty detrimental to that goal. Despite being on the receiving end of a bevy of negative news cycles, he has steadily been winning the support of leading Christian conservatives. However, a retraction signals something entirely different: it gives the perception that he's losing support.

The title to your post is deceptive. In retracting his endorsement, Mr. Wilton gave no indication that he supports another candidate. He simply wants to revert to his prior policy of not endorsing candidates.
