Since I first reported about a potential revolt among Christian Conservatives in the Republican Party over Rudy's Giuliani's stance on abortion, somebody actually went out and polled to see if it was significant.
The results are shocking to say the least. 27% of Republicans said they would support a Pro-Life Third Party candidate over Rudy Giuliani. And in a matchup between an Unnamed Pro-Life Candidate, Rudy, and Hillary Clinton, Clinton takes 46%, Giuliani takes 30%, and a pro-lifer takes 14%.
This news only adds fuel to the fire and further serves to undermine Giuliani's case for President.
To date, one of Giuliani's strongest selling points was that he could put more states (up to 48) in play and could challenge Clinton in states where no other Republican could. With the news that not even Republicans are going to support him, that case becomes significantly weaker.
It turns out Republicans aren't willing to throw the proverbial baby out with the bath water.

This whole issue demonstrates the absurdity of single-issue, litmus-test voting. The Christian Right would condemn the whole country, including themselves, to 8 years of Hillary (and probably 8 more of her VP?) over a single issue. AND, they don't even care who the 3rd candidate is ("Un-named pro-life candidate"...). I'm no Giuliani supporter, but talk about having blinders on! These folks would rather have terrorists on our doorstep, socialist government control of health care, and millions of illegal immigrants given instant citizenship than live one more day in a country that allows abortions. I really don't get this level of selfishness, especially given that Giuliani (or any president) cannot by himself do ANYTHING to repeal or protect abortion rights. Republicans need to stick together and defeat the Democratic nominee, not splinter off into factions over individual issues.
