Marc Ambinder has the ad buys of Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney for the coming week in New Hampshire starting tomorrow:
Rudy Giuliani
Boston -- 400 points $319,000
Burlington-Plattsburgh -- 550 points $43,995
Manchester -- 560 points $173,965
Portland-Auburn -- 450 $42,000
Mitt RomneyBoston, for 825 points, at $705,100 per week
Burlington-Plattsburgh for 550 point at $43,995 per week
Manchester for 1,435 points at $464,040 per week
Portland-Auburn for 450 points at $42,000 per week
According to Graniteprof, Mitt Romney has spent $2.4 million total the entire year on WMUR-TV, the Manchester station, which is three times as much as any other candidate. That, and the familiarity New Hampshire voters in the Boston market already had with him, is where his lead comes from.
Giuliani has stepped up his buy significantly, and it is a sign he is serious about trying to win New Hampshire. If Giuliani increases the buy to match Romney step for step, he may just pull it off.
Ron Paul is still the wild card in New Hampshire. Graniteprof also points out that Paul has only spent $55,800 on WMUR-TV and that his ad is off the air now. He is sitting on $8.8 million and it makes us wonder what he is waiting for. Maybe he has another office in his sights that doesn't involve the word President...
