National Right to Life's endorsement of Fred Thompson reflects a pragmatic way of thinking. From their point-of-view, there is a pro-abortion candidate in this race that must be defeated. Thus they went with the candidate with the best chance of winning. However, they have left themselves some outs for the general election.
Mike Huckabee is still the most pro-life candidate in this race. He is a supporter of the Human Life Amendment that Thompson is not. He could easily win a future endorsement by NRLC. Likewise, if Mitt Romney successfully buys the nomination or John McCain pulls off an upset, either could still be endorsed by NRLC. The short term goal is defeating Rudy Giuliani, the long term goal is defeating Hillary Clinton.

Why are some folks behaving like spoiled children??
Not too long ago, we had a majority in both houses AND the White House where we found we could not push through a Human Life Amendment...if we couldn't do it then, what on earth makes you think that it can be done in the next eight years...or 16...or 32!?
Secondly, combating judicial activism with Constitutional Amendments is directly against how we were instructed to manage our government and frankly, it's an exercise in destroying our own freedoms.
The NRLC not only understands all of this but, wisely endorses and follows the leader who rightly pointed it out to them. This is all NRLC does everyday BUT, we've got people out there who, laughably, whine about it instead of learning what's in front of their nose.
Fred made this information readily available on the internet and he has described the situation nearly every time he has had the opportunity to explain it.
For those people who think they know better than our founding fathers, you don't!
