The AFP is reporting on a new round of riots in France. If you recall, the last time there were riots of this scope was in 2005.
They are being carried out by young people of minority descent, mainly Arab and African. The root cause is institutionalized racism that is part of a bigger picture present throughout all of Europe.
European nations like France have strict laws to "protect" its culture. This includes laws governing language and a bureaucratic nightmare to gain citizenship. The high unemployment rate from socialist policies is also a contributing factor. Many of the young people in France have trouble finding work and many jobs are reserved for the "true" Frenchmen.
France, like many other European nations, has a history of colonialism and then "welcoming" their former subjects to their nation. However, rather than integrate aspects of the immigrant cultures to their own, they force everyone to conform to their culture as defined by the government.
This serves to instill a conservative mindset that preaches "fight to preserve" rather than "adapt to survive."
