
Mike Huckabee is cycling a couple of new image/response ads into the rotation in Iowa.
The first ad outflanks the accusations Romney makes in his ads with references to Huckabee's record complete with his own news (magazine) quote. It also makes a not-so-subtle appeal to Christian conservatives who are quickly becoming the cornerstone of the former Baptist preacher's campaign.
The latter ad is more direct in calling out Romney. Without using his name, Huckabee simultaneously associates Romney with "Washington special interest groups" and "negative campaigning" while putting him on the "turn the other cheek" moral high ground.
For what the average Iowa voter sees, the second ad may cut through while the first would just blend in with the rest of the misinformation that is on the air.
