
USA Today/Gallup has a new national poll:
Giuliani 27%
Huckabee 16%
McCain 14%
Thompson 14%
Romney 14%
Alan Keyes 3%
Ron Paul 3%
We're not a big fan of national polls, especially for primaries, because we think they reflect national name recognition more than the actual state of the race. To date, none of the candidates have only run ads outside of the early states.
This explains Giuliani's lead which fueled by his magnificent performance as "America's Mayor" on 9/11. Similarly, Huckabee's rise to second has more to do with the massive amounts of earned media he has been generating and mirrors his rise in the early states.
