In a year that is shaping up to be one of the most important of our history, the greatest sports team, perhaps ever, is playing right before our eyes. Accomplishing what political campaigns only wished they could do; the New England patriots finished the regular season perfect.

The only thing left for the Patriots to do to cement themselves as the greatest football dynasty ever is to win their fourth Super Bowl since 2001.

Following the game, Coach Bill Bellichek was  succinctly on message looking ahead to their first round of the playoffs.

"We have our biggest game of the year coming up and we are going to have to be ready for that," Bellichek said. "I don’t know who it’s going to be against but that team will be a good football team no matter who it is. In the meantime we are going to take a little bit of time and enjoy this one and feel good about what we have accomplished."

Tom Brady conveyed a similar message crediting the often overlooked exceptional defense and the team achievements of which his record setting 50 touchdown mark is a part of. But he was in a more celebratory mood than his coach.

"It's been a great team to play for, it's been a lot of fun."

Randy Moss was in a bit more of a combative mood. He took some direct shots at the media and provided some quotes that would make a political consultant cringe.

"I don't really think that me breaking Jerry Rice's record was special," Moss said. "I think shutting you guys up is really what made it special."

"I kinda predicted this," Moss said saying that he sensed they would go undefeated the moment he became a New England Patriot. "Hats off to us."

The last team to go undefeated in the regular season was the 1972 Miami Dolphins. 1972.
