Mike Huckabee fever seems to be taking the country by storm with a new national poll that has him in second place behind Rudy Giuliani:
Giuliani 23%
Huckabee 17%
Don't Know 17%
Thompson 14%
McCain 11%
Romney 9%
Ron Paul 5%
Despite still being the national front runner, this poll brings bad news for Giuliani. Giuliani was at 32% in a similar October poll, and his slipping numbers could be an indication of an electorate which is starting to pay attention and starting to become educated on where the candidates stand on the issues. Giuliani, with his Feb. 5 strategy, is for all intents and purposes running a national campaign; and slipping national poll numbers isn't a good sign.
This poll is also great news for Huckabee who is demonstrating support beyond just Iowa. Huckabee polled at 7% in the similar October poll, and his rise to second place could mean that he is becoming the anti-Giuliani.
