
The Washington Post has an article about the next big primary day after Tsunami Tuesday, Feb. 12, the day being dubbed Chesapeake Tuesday when Maryland, DC, and Virginia hold their primaries.
There are 119 Republican delegates up for grabs with DC and Virginia holding statewide winner take all contests and Maryland awarding winner take all by Congressional district.
The region, which has historically had little impact on deciding nominees despite its role in deciding the affairs of the country, looks poised to have an impact this year if/when more than one candidate remains standing after February 5th.Former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich, who lost reelection in 2006, is Rudy Giuliani's mid-Atlantic chairman. In Virginia, northern Virignia Congressman Tom Davis and U.S. Senator John Warned have endorsed John McCain while the Lt. Gov. has endorsed Mitt Romney.
Inside the beltway, this will be the chance for all the national reporters who have been covering the race to weigh in. While the reporter vote probably won't be decisive; it will be interesting to see.
