
Rudy Giuliani dropped out of the race today and in the most gentlemanly manner endorsed John McCain in California. California, like two fifths of the union holds its primary less than a week from now. And tonight, at the Reagan Presidential library, the final four candidates will gather to debate.
John McCain, fresh off his Florida victory last night, enters as the true front runner. Mitt Romney enters as the loser. Mike Huckabee as the wild card.
If Huckabee is looking to be the Republican Presidential nominee, he will go after McCain. If he looking to be the next Republican Vice-Presidential nominee, he will go after Romney.
It's better late than never when it comes to going negative, and if Romney truly wants to win, he needs to go after McCain's record tonight. Tomorrow he should follow it up with a full blown negative ad campaign in targeted February 5th markets.
And then there's Ron Paul.
