A new poll of Florida has John McCain leading followed very closely by the field:
McCain 22%
Giuliani 20%
Huckabee 19%
Romney 19%
Thompson 7%
Paul 5%
Giuliani's relative strength in this poll is impressive despite the national stories counting him out the race.
Voters are beginning to realize that this race is too important to let Iowa, New Hampshire, or South Carolina decide it; and see their state's primary on the horizon. Due to early voting, many will get to go the polls the same day South Carolinians do; blunting some of the momentum effects South Carolina has traditionally had. Notice that Huckabee got almost no bump from his Iowa victory, while John McCain's New Hampshire bump appears that it is beginning to subside.
And the candidates seem to concur; none of the leading candidates shows any indication of backing off before Florida and Tsunami Tuesday.
