A new Pew Research poll has John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, and Mike Huckabee statistically tied:
McCain 22%
Giuliani 20%
Huckabee 17%
Romney 12%
Thompson 9%
The poll also seperates out the numbers from Florida, Maine (2/2) and all the Tsunami Tuesday states. However the sample is extremely small (n=245) meaning it has a large standard deviation:
McCain 21%
Giuliani 21%
Huckabee 16%
Romney 14%
Thompson 8%
While national polls are generally worthless for a primary that is fought on a state by state basis, it does reflect the undecided nature of the Republican primary electorate.
The tracking trend is the more interesting part parsed from the poll. It clearly shows Giuliani's steady decline and Huckabee's rise as well as Thompson's announcement and then subsequent decline.
