Per the AP, Mitt Romney is pulling his advertising in South Carolina and Florida in favor of Michigan. More from the story:
Romney had been spending about $280,000 per week in South Carolina and spent $3 million there last year, according to rival campaigns. In Florida, he had been spending $160,000 per week and had spent 2.5 million in 2007.
Earlier on Wednesday, Romney had assured his top financial backers that he will win the upcoming Michigan primary, as he and his staff worked to soothe supporters unsettled by his losses in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.
"It's just getting started," the presidential contender told hundreds of supporters gathered at a convention center for a follow-up to the "National Call Day" that raised an unprecedented $6.5 million a year ago.
He promised to carry on to Michigan, which votes Jan. 15, as well as Nevada and South Carolina, which vote Jan. 19.
Romney's campaign has been running a deficit for some time now, and he has been financing a large part of his paid media strategy from his own pocket. By backing out of those TV commitments and staging another media fundraising day, he is indicating that self-funding will/may no longer be the case.
Romney must have taken a step back and consulted his own campaign. Recognizing a poor investment when he saw it, the course of action was obvious. And when the money dries up, so too does Romney's campaign.

This is the best news that we Fredheads have had since before Iowa. This will give Fred some oxygen in South Carolina to get his message out and obtain the conservative vote there. Fred is collecting money for his South Carolina advertising campaign at Fred08.com and has almost reached his goal.
