A new Rasmussen poll of Florida taken the day after the South Carolina primary has Mitt Romney leading John McCain:

Romney 25%
McCain 20%
Giuliani 19%
Huckabee 13%
Thompson 12% 

Meanwhile, a SurveyUSA poll taken the same day has McCain leading:

(n=518, s=4.4)
McCain 25%
Giuliani 20%
Romney 19%
Huckabee 14%
Thompson 7% 

The Rasmussen poll seems suspect as it indicates little to no boost from McCain's South Carolina victory. It was taken of "Likely Republican voters." Only 55% of Romney's support is firm; indicating that they have more familiarity with his TV ads than with who he actually is. Additionally, 46% of all voters could still change their minds.

The SurveyUSA poll is of "Likely and actual voters" and includes those who voted early. Among those who have already voted, McCain leads Giuliani 31%-25%.

Thompson is still included in both polls, and he is pulling support from Huckabee. But Huckabee isn't contesting the state on TV, so much of that Thompson support won't have a chance to familiarize themselves with Huckabee before the primary.

We have a dog fight on our hands folks.
