Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-CA) was on ABC News last night to sum up the situation on the California wildfires which have forced the evacuation of more than 1 million people:
The situation in California has been handled much more smoothly than Kartina was few years ago which quickly, and unfortunately, degenerated into a political football. Notice Michael Chertoff, Secretary of Homeland Security, standing with Republican Arnold to represent the Bush Administration.
I even heard Senator Baraba Boxer (D-CA) the other day lauding President Bush for all he's done in this effort, and I couldn't believe it. Disasters like this demonstrate the awesome and unifying power of politics.
